Spend More Time In His Presence 1

Hebrews 4 vs 12:

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart

This is what God has been teaching me for a while now. This is what I lacked in my life. I have been a believer since I was born, I grew up going to church and in my high school days we were actually forced to go to church. Some of you know of how Catholic schools are, how they operate were you will have to go to church but did I know the Word of God? Not at all.

I grew up and then by my won self I started looking for God without being forced. And I did find God, i got born again, got baptized in the water about 25 years ago now. I even got baptized in the Holy Spirit which is the greatest honor that God can give anybody, I'm sure a lot of you will agree. Being baptized by the Holy Spirit is the greats miracle any human being can ever experience and that happened to me about 15 years ago but did I know the Word of God? No.

Then God started to deal with me personally. He showed how my walk with Him was very shallow because I did not know the Word of God. You know how sometimes we want to argue with God like we know everything, making excuses. That was me, I was saying oh God but I know about all the Bible stories etc. But I discovered that it's not about knowing the bible stories, it's about knowing His Word, His heart. That's how God speaks to us. A lot of times I would say God please speak to me and he seemed to be quiet, why? Because I was not reading His Word faithfully. I was too busy with other things, serving God.

Serving God is good, doing the work of God is excellent, it's amazing, it's commendable but it does not replace your own time with God. He wants that more than your works. So decide today as the year begins to read the Bible daily without fail, one chapter a day is fine but do not just read to fulfil an obligation. Sit down to talk to God. Spend more time in His presence.
