1 Samuel 17 vs 26-27:
Then David said to the men who were standing by him, “What will be done for the man who kills this Philistine and rids Israel of the disgrace? For who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he has dared to defy the armies of the living God?”
The people answered him in agreement with this statement, saying, “This is what will be done for the man who kills him.”
and 1 Samuel 45-47:
But David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, a spear, and a [a]saber, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of armies, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.
This day the Lord will hand you over to me, and I will strike you and remove your head from you. Then I will give the dead bodies of the army of the Philistines this day to the birds of the sky and the wild animals of the earth, so that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel,
and that this entire assembly may know that the Lord does not save by sword or by spear; for the battle is the Lord’s, and He will hand you over to us!”
The confidence in this boy!. You really have to read the whole story to understand the power of God. It's a really interesting story if you start to read it word by word, verse by verse. David was not a trained soldier, he was a shepherd boy taking care of his father's sheep. His three brothers were actually soldiers in the army of Saul and when he brought them food that's when he heard this giant challenging the army of Israel and he was infuriated. You know how when you are a child of God and you hear the devil insulting the people of God or about God and you get angry. There is this spirit in you which just makes you angry, that's what happened to David.
I like what he says in verse 45, he prophesied victory. He had so much confidence that he was going to kill the giant and he had already envisioned what he was going to do with his head. Do you see the power of vision?. To see things already being done just by having a big vision. He did not have small vision, it was not even a vision of his age. Seeing the victory, having won and speaking into existence. David did not say I will do it, that's also something we have to notice. He said The Lord will deliver you into my hand and I will strike you and take your head from you. He was ready to give God glory in advance. That's one thing we have to learn from David. Whatever victory we get, whatever blessing we get it is for the glory of God.
If you want God to bless you in whatever area of your life just be ready to give that glory back to God because it's not by might or by power but by his spirit. It's by His mercy that we get anything that we get in this life. So David was very conscious of that, he was aware that whatever victory i get it's because God has allowed it. He was not going to take away God's glory even though he was working in partnership with God. Remember that God does not work alone he needs a person with courage. You have to have courage to be used by Him like David, you have to have confidence in Him and what he is capable of to....
