The Foundation

“Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.” (Matthew 7:12)

Before thinking what what’s-his-name hasn’t done for you, think about what you haven’t done for others (including what’s-his-name).

Again, here’s the foundation of Christianity: if you want to receive, you have to give first. This is the summation of God’s Word.

If you want to be respected, respect others first.

Whether or not you’re respected, it’s your obligation to show respect at all times. If you want to be treated well, treat others well.

If you want your wife (or husband) to be faithful to you, you be faithful too. If don’t want the government to rob you, then pay your taxes.

If you want to rely on God, be someone He can count on. It’s give and take.”

Putting yourself in other people’s shoes and doing for them (including God) what you’d like them to do for you is a rule that should be applied not only today, but every day of your life.

Don’t offend anyone, for you wouldn’t want to be offended. Don’t judge others, for you wouldn’t want to be judged.

Don’t lie, for you wouldn’t want anyone to lie to you. Don’t hate, for you wouldn’t want to be hated.

Don’t steal, for you wouldn’t want to be robbed.

Note that there are no exceptions saying that if a person has earned it, they can say whatever they want, or do whatever they want.

No! It’s not about other people.

It’s about the actions you take to keep your faith strong, to stay in communication with God and to keep your salvation.

It’s a matter of intelligence.

Do for others what you’d like them to do for you.
